This year, to reflect the growing range of leisure options open to children, the competition has embraced four categories - film, TV programmes, video games and websites.

A specially-selected panel of experts provided a shortlist of the top box-office performing U/PG/12/12A family-oriented films on release from 1 August 2007 and 31 July 2008, the top-rated children’s programmes, the best-selling children’s video games and the most visited children's websites.
